What is the security issue with New windows update? How to fix it?Time: Oct. 15, 2019
Microsoft advises 800 million Windows 10 users to install a critical update before anyone else. Many of these users may need to manually solve a problem with the Windows Update Wizard. The Microsoft Windows 10 Update Wizard helps you download and install feature updates on your Windows 10-based device, including instructions for updating to the latest version of Windows 10.
What is the security issue with the Windows Update Wizard?
While other Windows updates have damaged Windows Defender, it was discovered that the Windows update wizard itself is vulnerable to a local escalation attack that could allow an attacker to execute system privileges under certain circumstances.
Jimmy Bayne, a security researcher, told BleepingComputer that the vulnerability was not very practical from an operational point of view. Even then, if they were already on the net, these advanced persistent threat players could probably find much easier ways to achieve their climbing goals. Symantec has evaluated the vulnerability in the Microsoft Windows Update Assistant CVE-2019-1378 as a local escalation vulnerability.

Solving the problem is not as easy as it should be. This does not mean that it is a very complex process, but that it will be too embarrassing for the average Windows 10 user and, therefore, can be ignored.
There are two ways to solve the problem: uninstall the Windows Update Wizard and wait until you are prompted to reinstall it the next time you update Windows 10 or download and install the latest version manually. The easiest solution may be to uninstall the Windows Update Wizard. This will fix the vulnerability and replace the program with the next update.
