  • Price of Office 2019 will push you to Office 365?
    Time: Oct. 31, 2019

Microsoft may have made Office 365 more attractive than before due to higher Office 2019 prices.

Microsoft launched its local Office 2019 suite for Windows and Mac in September. Instead of highlighting the new key features included in a long-term license for Office 2019, the company said they were inferior to Office 365 ProPlus, which says it is "the most productive and the safest" with the "cost" total ownership lowest for "implementation and management".

Office 2019 is for customers who are not "cloud-ready" in 2018. Of course, Microsoft has not removed the perpetual license of Office, but the recently updated Office 2019 price list for People and small businesses give a good indication of what customers should buy.

According to Greg Keizer of Computerworld, the cost of Office 2019 Home & Student remains the same as that of Office 2016 of $149.99. The license is limited to domestic use and cannot be used for commercial purposes.

Office 2019 Professional now costs $439.99, a 10% increase over the $399 cost of Office 2016 Professional. Both can be used in a commercial context.

Constant and incremental price increases with a greater number of feature updates for Office 365 should improve the appeal of an Office 365 subscription, especially for Microsoft business customers.
